Canal Quarters:
Reserve Your Stay Back in Time!

We are pleased to announce that our Canal Quarters lockhouses are open with new protocols in place with your health in mind!  When you stay in one of our lockhouses, you have it to yourself for the duration of your stay, providing you with a fun place to socially distance while you enjoy the beautiful C&O Canal with your family and friends.

We are now having our lockhouses professionally cleaned between each guest. Cleaning staff will focus on high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs and light switches, furniture, and cooking implements. We have replaced the cotton mattress covers with easy-to-disinfect vinyl ones, and we have removed some “touchables” that might be more difficult to clean.

Please select a lockhouse below to book your stay! And please consider an extra donation to help us cover the new costs of frequent professional cleaning.

We accept reservations up to a year in advance.

Welcome and thanks for your interest in the Canal Quarters program! Each of our seven historic lockhouses have been preserved and are available for you and your family and friends to enjoy a night or three! Step back in time and experience what life was like 60, 90, or 150 years ago!

Each Canal Quarter lockhouse has been furnished with furniture and accessories from a different time period, and each tells a different story about the development of the C&O Canal. We encourage you to spend the night at all seven – each provides a unique experience!

Each Canal Quarters lockhouses can sleep up 8 people. They have been used for romantic couples getaways (including some engagements and weddings!), family getaways and reunions, girls’ weekends, scout troop lodging, and a special place for parties, holidays, and celebrations. They book up fast, so be sure to reserve your date soon!
