Canal Community Days is the C&O Canal Trust’s annual public volunteer program. Each year, we recruit and manage hundreds of volunteers to undertake a range of preservation, beautification, maintenance, and conservation projects along the 184.5 mile length of the C&O Canal National Historical Park, working closely with the National Park Service to identify priorities that can be completed by volunteers of all ages.
Visitation to the Park surged throughout the past year, and our dedicated volunteers provide vital support at high visitor use areas.
Allegany County – October 8
Join us this October to help make the park shine at several locations along the Canal in Allegany County, on Saturday, October 8, from 1-4 p.m.
Frederick County – October 22
Our spring event in Frederick County was canceled due to rain, but we’ve rescheduled for fall and hope you’ll join us on Saturday, October 22 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Great Falls – April 23
Thank you so much to all the volunteers who were able to make it out to participate and help cleanup our Park on April 23, 2022!
Please stay tuned for more upcoming Canal Community Days!
