August 13: Culture and Cocktails: Spotlight on the C&O Canal

Enjoy a drink and have a think! At Culture & Cocktails, we tackle a historical topic with the help of a little liquid fortitude. On Friday, August 13th at 6:00 p.m., Mary Rubin will present an exploration into the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal! Also called the “Grand Old Ditch,” the 184 mile C&O Canal operated from 1831 until 1924. After the event, Mary will be on hand to sign copies of her book, Images of America: The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal (Maryland). The featured cocktail will be “Dusk on the Wharf”! A smooth, fresh concoction, this cocktail is a new take on the classic dark and stormy.
