Turtle Run is the closest hiker-biker campsite to the infamous Haunted House Bend - where boatmen tried to avoid stopping for the night. Many reported hearing odd noises, having to calm restless and spooked mules, and finding their boats tampered with. The campsite is almost directly across from the Balls Bluff battlefield where Union troops were driven into the river on the evening of October 21, 1861. Spend an October night here and judge for yourself.
