C&O Canal Libations Trail

After your hike or bike ride along the C&O Canal, venture into the Canal Towns that line the towpath to enjoy locally-made beer, wine, and spirits with our C&O Canal Libations Trail! This trail was developed in partnership with the Canal Towns Partnership.

We are starting off with canal-themed brews and are now adding distilleries, wineries, and specialty beverages to the trail — please check back, or sign up for our email list to be notified.

Douglas’ Ditch: Lager

Four breweries in Allegany County have teamed up to offer Douglas’ Ditch, a lager that combines the names of Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, who played a role in preventing the canal from being turned into a parkway in the 1950s, and the “Grand Ole’ Ditch,” a nickname for the C&O Canal since it opened for business in 1850.
