Shepherdstown Sweet Shop
The Shepherdstown Sweet Shop Bakery is housed in a 200-year-old building once used as a Civil War hospital. They serve a wide variety of baked goods including grain bread, pastries, all occasion cakes, holiday stollen, and gluten-sensitive options. The Sweet Shop is popular among cyclists because of their outdoor seating and bike racks across the street. At mile marker 72.7, take the circuitous ramp from the towpath to Shepherdstown Pike. At the top of the ramp, turn left and cross the bridge on a wide sidewalk. Continue for 1 mile and then turn left on W. German St., following signs for downtown Shepherdstown. Continue for .2 miles, and the Sweet Shop will be on your right.
