Woodmont Rod and Gun Club

Seven miles southwest of Hancock, Maryland sits the former Woodmont Rod & Gun Club. Organized in 1870 as a premiere hunting club, Woodmont was in continuous operation for almost 125 years until the clubhouse and all its records burned in 1903. Following this incident, the original club dissolved and decided to sell the land. A wild turkey breeding program and a deer breeding program existed until 1995, when the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Izzak Walton League of America purchased Woodmont.

Comprised of approximately 3,425 acres, hikers, mountain bikers, bird watchers, and hunters can enjoy the Wildlife Heritage Trail in Woodmont, a four-mile trail system in a figure eight design.
