Canal Pride Sponsorship Information

What is Canal Pride?

Canal Pride events are volunteer project days throughout the year that tackle the backlog of conservation and maintenance projects along the C&O Canal. During 2016, the Trust hosted more than 40 different Canal Pride events, with over 1,000 volunteers who were vital in helping to maintain the 184.5 mile Towpath and 1,300 historic structures in the Park. Canal Pride volunteer projects include painting park benches, repairing barbeque grills, building and maintaining trails, preserving historic buildings, clearing trash, and removing invasive plant species. Our volunteers help keep our Park safe and clean for 5 million visitors each year.

How Can Your Company Participate?

  1. Become a Sponsor: Your Canal Pride Sponsorship will help cover expenses needed to keep our Park clean and cared for – items like paint, dumpsters, rakes, trash bags, and pruners to aid our volunteers in their efforts. Download the information sheet here.
  2. Host your own Canal Pride event and become a Steward: You can choose a date and a location along the Canal for your own Canal Pride event. Bring your employees out for a team-building experience as a way to give back to the community. Download the information sheet here.

Why Should Your Business or Company Become a 2017 Canal Pride Sponsor?

  • Generate company visibility as a steward of the Park! With more than 388,000 annual visitors at Great Falls, 257,000 annual visitors at Williamsport, and 13,395 visitors at Paw Paw, there is a great opportunity for visibility.
  • Demonstrate your commitment to preservation, conservation, recreation, and economic development!
  • Encourage your employees to volunteer during one of our public Canal Pride events in Williamsport, Hancock, Lock 75, or Great Falls, or create your own corporate service day!
