Canal Pride volunteers get special thanks
Deputy Secretary of the Interior Lynn Scarlett spoke to more than 100 Canal Trust volunteers Saturday who lent a hand to clean up and restore the Carderock Pavilion area of the C&O Canal.

Restoring Pride - Volunteer initiative kicks off
C&O Canal Pride Days kicked off last weekend marking the beginning
of a volunteer initiative that aims to bring 1,000 volunteers into the
park to work on 100 projects between April 19 and May 10.

open on Thursday, April 17 in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, Trolley Barn Building in the Cushwa Basin at Williamsport.
Hello Dolly! C&O Canal Welcomes Newest Mule
The National Park Service will be holding a special welcome for the park's newest mule, Dolly on Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Great Falls Tavern area of the park.
C&O Canal exhibit 'just the beginning'

Ice-skating aficionados who enjoy a bit of risk will be happy to know they can try out the ice this winter on theC&O Canal Basin near the Western Maryland Railway Station.
New Sinkhole near Lock 8
A sinkhole has developed on the C&O Canal at mile 8.5 near Lock 8 that has damaged the towpath. Park staff has installed a temporary bridge across the breached towpath to allow visitors to continue to use the towpath.
C&O Canal Trust to raise money for park near Williamsport
With almost half of the C&O Canal running through Washington County, area officials said the community has an interest in maintaining its heritage and making some improvements.
