Falling Waters

Falling Waters is located five miles downstream from Williamsport. Confederate soldiers marched down the towpath during the rainy night of July 13, 1863. Crossing the Potomac River on a pontoon bridge to Falling Waters, West Virginia, the Confederates escaped the pursuing Union troops. Access to Falling Waters is by the towpath only with the nearest parking at Williamsport. The March to Falling Waters is re-enacted the second Sunday of July. For more information contact the Williamsport Visitor Center 301-582-0813.
