C&O Canal Pride Days 2010 Kicks Off in April

C&O Canal Pride Days is the largest volunteer event in the park, and this year is looking to be the best yet. The event is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet new people and participate in the national spirit of unity and service. Together we can show pride for our national park while raising awareness of its ongoing stewardship needs. With your help, C&O Canal Pride Days can mark the beginning of a lasting relationship between yourself, the C&O Canal, and our future.

The Trust is seeking volunteer groups and individuals to complete projects over three weekends in four locations:

  • Saturday, April 17th – Great Falls (MD.)
  • Sunday, April 18th – Pennyfield
  • Saturday, May 1st – Williamsport
  • Saturday, May 8th – Paw Paw
  • Saturday, June 5th – National Trails Day Project, Great Falls

For more information or to get involved, download the C&O Canal Pride Days flyer, complete an online application, or contact the Trust at 301-714-2233.

Lander – Painting the fence around the lockhouse, scraping and painting the lockhouse porch and stairs, and clearing vegetation and debris.

Brunswick – Scraping and painting the guardrail, painting picnic tables and grills, striping the parking lot, and pulling garlic mustard.

Hancock – Clearing brush to restore the view shed of the Little House, removing trash and debris, removing a dilapidated fence, and pulling garlic mustard.
